Saturday 31st December
As this is the final day of 2011 I hope this year leaves you with more good memories than bad.
I hope the coming year will be full of new and exciting adventures.
So welcome the new year with a smile.
Here is a thought from Carl Sagan Astronomer.
"Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were.
But without it we go nowhere".

Friday 30th December
"Take time to think,it is the source of power.
Take time to play...it is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take time to read..it is the fountain of wisdom.
Take time to pray...it is the greatest power on earth.
Take time to laugh...it is the music of the soul.
Take time to give...it is too short a day to be selfish".

Thursday 29th December
They say we all bring something to the party(The party of life that is)
So make sure what you bring is something you will want people to remember you for......
Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote
"I am a part of all that I have met".
I have posted the Poem of the Month for January, I hope you enjoy it....

Wednesday 28th December
I opened my book of Positive Thoughts at random and came up with this statement from Mark Twain.
"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too,can become Great".

Pick your friends wisely....
Tuesday 27th December
As we are heading towards another new year, here is a thought for anyone who thinks they are taking less into the new year than they start this one with....
"Be not like him who sits by his fireside and watches the fire go out, then blows vainly upon the dead ashes.Do not give up hope or yield to despair because of that which has past, for to bewail the irretrievable is the worst of human frailties".Kahlil Gibran
Remember that which has gone is only parked in your memory for future reflection.

Monday 26th December
Well that is another Christmas done and dusted.
Here is an Italian proverb to ponder.
"Where the river is deepest it makes the least noise".
The same could be said for some people who think long and hard and say very little.

Saturday 24th December
May I wish you all a very merry and happy Christmas.
And I will say a prayer for all those people who are not as lucky as I am.
COUNT MY BLESSINGS
I TRY TO COUNT MY BLESSINGS
BUT THEY COME SO FAST AND FREE
LIKE THE SMILES THAT CROSS THE FACES
WHEN THEY TURN AND LOOK AT ME,
THE GENTLE MORNING SUNSHINE
THAT GREETS THE DAY SO BRIGHT
AS IT BATHES ME IN ITS GLORY
WHILE WASHING ME WITH LIGHT,
THE JOYS OF CHILDREN LAUGHING
AS THEY PLAY TO HEART CONTENT
WHILE ASKING ALL THEIR QUESTIONS
WITH INNOCENT INTENT,
THE CHORUS IN THE TREETOPS
OF THE BIRDS IN RAPTURIOUS TONES
AND THE BUZZING OF THE INSECTS
THAT MAKE THE TREES THEIR HOME,
THE SHOUTING OF THE WAVETOPS
AS THEY CHASE AGAINST THE SURF
WHILE POUNDING ON THE SHORELINE
TO CLAW FOR ALL THEIR WORTH,
FOR THE LOVING HAND OF FRIENDSHIP
THAT HELPS ME HALVE MY CARES
AND THE CUDDLES FROM MY FAMILY
NO MATTER HOW I FAIR,
OR WHEN MY PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED
WITH JUST A LITTLE FAITH
AS I COUNT MY MANY BLESSINGS
WHICH GOD HAS PUT IN PLACE

Friday 23rd December
Everybody worries about things from time to time especially at this time of year, and somethings take on far more importance than they deserve. So here is a thought to ponder from Lao Tzu.
"When nothing can be done about the way things are.
The wise stop worrying about the situation".

Thursday 22nd December
Synchronicity; The coming together of inner and outer events in away that can't be explained by cause and effect and that is meaningful to the observer.
Life is full of these events, watch out for things repeating themselves, they may just be steering you towards a better future.
Choose well;your choice is brief, but yet endless;Goethe

Wednesday 21st December
Another way of noticing synchronicity is how things repeat themselves like certain numbers or names appearing time and again, this usually herald some other type of message.
Synchronicity is an ever present reality for those who have eyes to see. ~Carl Jung
Though we can’t always see it at the time, if we look upon events with some perspective, we see things always happen for our best interests. We are always being guided in a way better than we know ourselves. ~Swami Satchidananda

Tuesday 20th December
It is funny how two people at the same time on different sides of the world can make the same breakthrough after years of trying. Is this synchronicity or pure chance. It has happened so many times in history it cannot all be down to chance.
2What if we valued feeling as much as thinking, as synchronistic events invite us to do".Robert H Hopcke..

Monday 19th December
The theme for this week is synchronicity. I am reading "The 7 Secrets of Synchronicity" by Trish & Rob Macgregor at the moment,it is a very thought provoking book.
"Synchronicities are the jokers in nature's pack of cards for they refuse to play by the rules and offer a hint that,in our quest for certainty about the universe,we have ignored some vital clues".F David Peat (Writer)
Spotting synchronicity can be hard, because we rush around without really taking in what we hear or see most of the time.

Sunday 18th December
The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.Khalil Gibran
Learning is always best done through research, evaluation and effort.
But good advice never goes amiss.
To be satisfied with a little, is the greatest wisdom; and he that increaseth his riches, increaseth his cares; but a contented mind is a hidden treasure, and trouble findeth it not.Akhenaton
The more we have in life the more frightened we are about losing it, so were is the contentment in that...

Saturday 17th December
Book 3 of the Whisper Trilogy is nearing completion. The poems have been passed to Pam Shea for her to do her magic with the setting out etc.
I have several ideas for my next project, so I will take some time over the Christmas break to devise my plans for 2012.
Here are some nice thoughts on how to keep a smile on your face at this busy time.
A wise man is superior to any insults which can be put upon him, and the best reply to unseemly behavior is patience and moderation.Moliere
Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists in not exceeding the limit.
Elbert Hubbard
He who devotes sixteen hours a day to hard study may become at sixty as wise as he thought himself at twenty.Mary Wilson Little
Why not take 10 minutes out your day and listen to a video on My You Tube Channel above........

Friday 16th December
Earth teach me to forget myself as melted snow forgets its life. Earth teach me resignation as the leaves which die in the fall. Earth teach me courage as the tree which stands all alone. Earth teach me regeneration as the seed which rises in the spring.
William Alexander
You always have to remember that sleeping beneath the snow, is all your hopes for next spring.

Thursday 15th December
I feel as though I have lived many lives, experienced the heights and depths of each and like the waves of the ocean, never known rest. Throughout the years, I have looked always for the unusual, for the wonderful, for the mysteries at the heart of life.
Leni Riefenstahl

Monday 12th December
If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical. Well, that's nonsense. You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.-Ray Bradbury
One of lifes great pleasures is not always knowing, how things will turn out.
If you leave some things to chance the rewards can be breathtaking...

Sunday 11th December
When you look at the sky what do you see?
I see the black as much as the light.Indeed without the black what would the light be;Simple, it would not exist as light requires the black make it visible.
That is the same with happiness, you need know how sadness feels, for you to know when you feel happy.
Next time you look at the sky, please give the black a thought.

Saturday 10th December
I like to look at things from angles that don't readily spring into everybodies mind. So here with the help of an onion I take a simple view on reincarnation.
AN ONION
MY LIFE IS LIKE AN ONION
EACH SKIN A DIFFERENT TIME
NO MATTER HOW YOU PEEL IT
IT’S BOUND TO MAKE YOU CRY
EACH LAYER HOLDS ITS SECRETS
OF TASKS I MUST PERFORM
EACH TIME THAT I INCARNATE
ANOTHER SKIN IS SHORN
YOU THINK EACH SKIN IS SIMILAR
THAT NOTHINGS REALLY CHANGED
BUT I’VE JUST LEARN’T A LESSON
THAT’S WHY I’VE REARRANGED
MY SKIN GOES ON FOREVER
AS IF IT MUST PROTECT
THIS SOUL THAT’S IN THE MIDDLE
AS IT LIVES OUT ALL ITS QUESTS

Here is a final quote of the week on Faith.
"Faith in something greater than ourselves enables us to do what we have said we'll do, to press forward when we are tired or hurt or afraid, to keep going when the challenge seems overwhelming and the course is entirely uncertain."- Gordon Hinckley
Wise Words.
I hope you have had a nice week, if you feel like you need to unwind, why not go onto my You Tube channel above and listen to one or two of the pieces of music.

Thursday 8th December
Reason is itself a matter of faith. It is an act of faith to assert that our thoughts have any relation to reality at all. G K Chesterton
If you don't believe enough that your faith in things is real, how can you expect that faith to carry you through times good and bad.
Faith is not about imposing it onto other people, but more about evovling it to fit your real thoughts.

Wednesday 7th December
"Without winter, there can be no spring.
Without mistakes, there can be no learning.
Without doubts, there can be no faith.
Without fears, there can be no courage.
My mistakes, my fears and my doubts are my path to wisdom, faith and courage". Anonymous
This Mr Anonymous has written some wonderful things.

Tuesday 6th December
Today I have been pondering all about Faith, and how it can carry us through allsorts of situations. It really does not matter what you have faith in,as long as you have a faith. Be it in religion ,your family, yourself or some other choice. Here is few thoughts from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow on the subject.
"Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;Thy fate is the common fate of all, into each life some rain must fall".

Monday 5th December
I am so glad I did all my travelling last week, because winter is really starting to take hold.
I would like to say it was all planned, but that would be an untruth, I am not that wise I can forcast the weather.
Here is a thought on Wisdom from Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892 a Baptist Preacher.
"Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many man know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it.There is no fool so great as the knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom".

Sunday 4th December
After a week of travel here are some thoughts on it.
"Give me the clear blue sky over my head, and the green turf beneath my feet, a winding road before me, and a three hours' march to dinner" William Hazlitt 1778-1830
Thats a nice way to think about travel.

Saturday 3rd December
"Perhaps middle age is, or should be, a period of shedding shells; the shell of ambition, the shell of material accumulations and possessions, the shell of ego". Anne Morrow Lindbergh Amerian Writer.
Having just been in the loft and seen the things I need to declutter from my life. I can concur with the sentiments in the above thoughts.
But the one area that constantly gets my attention is that of my ego, which I feel has no value, so I try to shed it as much as possible.
God trully does love a trier....

Friday 2nd December
Well another day closer to Christmas, lots of coloured lights everywhere and people rushing about.
So here is a quiet moments thought.
I wrote this poem yesterday.I have never suffered from the subject of this poem and I hope you never.
Fruit on the Sideboard
There’s fruit upon the sideboard
Just waiting to be peeled
There’s sugar in the basin
It’s crystal form revealed
There’s tea inside the caddy
Longing for a brew
The only thing that’s missing
Is a visit here from you

The kettle filled with water
Just aching for a boil
The biscuits in their barrel
Have names like fig and royal
All is set for motion
If only you could see
Just once can you remember
To come and visit me.

Welcome to a new month.I was browsing through a copy of this months Kindred Spirit magazine when I came across this passage of words by The Poet Rafael Jesus Gonzalez.

Wednesday 30th November
Well I'm safe and sound back home from my Christmas trip to Bath, I found it to be a beautiful place with lots of warm and friendly people.
The Christmas Market was large and varied.
Here is a little thought on travel
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow mindedness". Mark Twain
Sometime if you keep going to the same places everyday you miss getting another propectus on life.

Saturday 26th November
I am off to Bath tomorrow until Wednesday,so the next blog will be on Wednesday.
Here is a thought to think about over the next few days..
"Learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself and know that everything in this life has a purpose".Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Friday 25th November
I have posted Decembers Poem of the Month called Morning Whisper, I hope you like it.
Here is the final words this week on the value of friends from Walter Winchell 1879-1972 An American Journalist
"A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out".

Thursday 24th November
"Let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth, and only the unprofitable is caught...
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed".
Kahlil Gibran

Wednesday 23rd November
We know that children have secret friends that only they can see, here is a poem I wrote in
2006 about this very subject.
INVISIBLE FRIEND
A TEARDROP MASKS THE EVENING SKY
FOR AT DAYS CLOSE WE SAY GOODBYE
ALL MY TOYS ARE PUT AWAY
WE’LL BRING THEM OUT ANOTHER DAY
I’M OFF TO BED AND SLUMBERS SWEET
WHERE ANGELS CARE AGAIN I’LL GREET
BUT WHAT OF YOU I LEAVE BEHIND
THE LOYALIST PAL I’LL EVER FIND
FOR ONLY I CAN SEE YOUR FACE
TO MUM AND DAD YOU SHOW NO TRACE
FOR YOU ALONE BELONG TO ME
MY SWEET AND HIDDEN FRIEND
I Hope you enjoyed this simple poem

"We are all travellers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend". Robert Louis Stevenson
I hope that you have an honest friend by your side as you face lifes ups and downs.

Monday 21st November
Sometimes you meet people who try so very hard to be your friend, but really they should stop trying because friends are not made that way.
Friends do not need to impress friends, they just need to be themselves without having to prove anything.
Dale Carnegie had some thoughts on this subject.
"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get people interested in you".

Sunday 20th November
The theme for this week is friendship, so lets start with the thoughts of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him".

Saturday 19th November
This week I have been introduced to two new souls, born to my nieces Carla -Louise and Cathy.
There is something magical in seeing little girls who I have watch grow up,have babies of their own.
So tonight I will say a prayer for Millie-Rose and Lily and wish them a happy and loving life.

Each day I give thanks to all the cells in my body, for without them, my soul would have nowhere to reside.
Each cell, no matter how small is as important as any other.
Why not give thanks to the cells in your body, which carry your soul, for positive energy where ever it is focussed carries love.

THIS FRAGILE LIFE

AND ALL THE JOYS

Tuesday 15th November
This week I have been thinking about life and picking thoughts from writers across a wide time spectrum.
But what do I think of life.
Well life for me is about giving both your love and your time in the pursuit of helping others, sometimes I am more successful at this than others. But they say that practise makes perfect, so I will keep practising.
"Life isn't about finding yourself.
Life is about creating yourself".
George Bernard Shaw..

Monday 14th November
You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it.That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing and dance, and write poems, and suffer; and understand, for all that is life.
Jiddu Krishnamurti (IndianTheosophist)

Sunday 13th November
Continuing the life theme here are thoughts of Sir Humphey Davy 1778-1829
Life is not made up of great sacrifices and duties but of little things: in which smiles and kindness given habitually are what win and preserve the heart and secure comfort.

Saturday 12th November
I have spent the day in my garden doing jobs and enjoying a little Autumn sunshine.
It make life a thing of joy. Here are some thoughts on life from George Bernard Shaw.
"I want to be thoroughly used up when I die...
Life is no brief candle to me.It's a sort of splendid torch which I've got to hold up for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations".

Friday 11th November
Here is a older poem of mine about life and unusually for me it is not in rhyme.
Still I hope you enjoy it
WITHIN THE SHELL OF LIFE
I WHO DRIFTS GENTLY
TO THAT WHICH IS MY SANTUARY
GLIDING SERENELY
ON A BOAT OF DREAMS
THOUGHTS LAPPING AGAINST MY BEING
CALM
IN REFLECTIVE JOY
ALL AT ONCE IN UNISON
WITH MY INNER SOUL
THE TORMENTS OF MAN
CAN FIND NO RESPITE HERE
ONLY LOVE CAN DWELL
GUARDIANS PROTECT MY WAY
EACH HOLDING MY SPIRIT ALOFT
BLESSED AM I
IN THE SIGHT OF GOD
THE LIGHT OF THE UNIVERSE
GROWS BRIGHT WITHIN ME
ALL I TOUCH
TURNS TO LOVE
CONFLICT AND AGGRESSION
VIBRATE AWAY
SERENITY IS MINE

  Human Rhythms
All things vibrate to rhythms
The faster the rhythms
The higher the realm of existence
Humans respond to biorhythms
These are the vibrations of our earthly bodies
What may at first appear to be simple adjustments of vibrations
are in fact quite complex and multi layered events
When our rhythms are in their ascendancy we have our best days
And when they are depleting we have our worst days
This is a very simplistic evaluation
As there are things that can effect are biorhythms
Sometimes for the good sometimes not
Things like food, colours, light, music, laughter & other people etc.
Suffice to say that to understand biorhythms properly
You need to study them in detail
But for this article I am only looking at their relationship
As a part of the whole
So where do we fit into the scheme of things
Our rhythms whilst not the slowest are still very dense
as compared to say Angels or unfettered souls.
When we meditate we can raise our vibrations
In his Book Medicine for the 21st Century Keith Mason
Explain how vibration effect our health for good and bad.
So give yourself your best chance of a health life and be positive
and caring in all things you do.

It is amazing in life, just how much we do not know how to do, for instance could you make a match or knit a jumper.Well you might say I don't need to know because these things are readily available.
But what if someday they weren't, what would you do.
It is true that you cannot know everything, but it does seem to me that we are jettisoning to much knowledge because of so called progress.
Socrates had this warning for all.
"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing".

Sunday 6th November
Here is a thought to start the week.
The more sand that has escaped from the hourglass of our life, the clearer we should see through it.Jean Paul..
I hope your hourglass still has an over abundance of sand to go...

Saturday 5th November
Here is passage from David J Schwartz's book "Maximize Your Mental Power".
See what you think about what he is saying.
"Oh, don't be sentimental", is some of the worst advice you have ever received.Being sentimental
feeling for other people gives your soul a chance to work with you.
Remember:Don't Be afraid of sentiment
Friday 4th November
To live a pure unselfish life, one must count nothing as one's own in the midst of abundance. Buddha
Lots of times in life we see people who are unwilling to share their good fortune, even with people they are supposed to love.
They say things like they don't deserve to share or I've work hard for this and I don't see why I should share with anybody.
But the people who really achieve the best in life, always share their good fortune and by sharing their good fortune it grows bigger everyday.
Yes there are people who take advantage of other people ,but thats their problem don't make it yours..
I wish you a sharing Saturday full of joy.PTT

Think not of the faults of others,of what they have done or not done.
Think rather of your own sins,of the things you have done or not done.Buddha

Tuesday 1st November
Self- applause, belittling others, or encouragement to sin, some such evil's sure to happen where one fool meets another.Buddha
They do say that you surround yourself with people who think the same as you do.
So think positively and be more caring and see if that improves your view of life's events and the people you share them with.

In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.Buddha
If man did not label things, he would have trouble making sense out of everyday events, hence the East and the West label.
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.Buddha
If I never learnt anything from The Buddha I learnt this, because I believe it to be true.
There is nothing more dreadful than the habit of doubt. Doubt separates people. It is a poison that disintegrates friendships and breaks up pleasant relations. It is a thorn that irritates and hurts; it is a sword that kills.Buddha
To doubt a friend is to doubt yourself..

Sunday 30th October
The theme for this week is the sayings of The Buddha.
The first pearl of wisdom is

Saturday 29th October
How wonderful to say the right thing at the right time.A good man thinks before he speaks; the evil man pours out his evil words without a thought. Proverbs 15;23,28

Here is a simple poem of autumn which I wrote in 2009
THE TREES OF AUTUMN

ETCHED AGAINST THE EVENING SKY
IN SWAYING MOTION THEY DO RIDE
QUIVERING IN A CALM REPOSE
THEY WHISPER TO THE DAY AT CLOSE
EACH LEAF UNFURLED TO CATCH THE BREEZE
IN MASSED PROFUSION THEY DO TEASE
AND WHILE THE BIRDS BED DOWN TO SLEEP
SOME PASSING CLOUDS DRESS UP TO WEEP
THEN HAZY STARS COME INTO VIEW
ENCASED IN MIST AND AUTUMN DEW
AND TREES AT LAST THEY DO RESIGN
TO KNOW FROM NATURE IT IS TIME
TO SHED THEIR LEAVES UPON THE GROUND
IN AUBURN SPENDOUR ALL AROUND
FOR SILENTLY IN DRIFTS THEY FORM
A SWIRLING CARPET TO ADORN
A FOREST FLOOR WITH AUTUMN

Anyone who reads my blog regularly will know I have a passion for quotes from Ralph Waldo Emerson(1803-1882).
His thinking was well ahead of its time and holds well in todays world.
Here is what he thought made a successful life and I think I agree with him.
"What is success?
To laugh often and much
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To Appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.

One of my failings according to some peoples is I try to hard to please too many people, instead of doing as I please.
Well I admit that could be true, but I think surely that cannot be too bad a fault to have.

" I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure -which is:try to please everybody".

When nature flexs her muscles, man is seen for what he is, a guest who is residing in the wrong place at the wrong time. At the mercy of his host.
Here is Lord Byron's take on nature.

There is society, where none intrudes,

I love not man less, but nature more".

One of my favourite quotes from Kahilil Gibran's book The Prophet is the one about giving.
" You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give".
When a person spares you their time, that is when they are really giving of themselves.

Friday 14th October
After a Friday that would test the patience of a saint I offer you these words of wisdom from my favourite poet Kahlil Gibran
"You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance".

Thursday 13th October
What effect does the conscience have on your soul or is your conscience your soul talking to you?
I must admit I haven't got a clue, but here is a thought on your conscience from Harper Lee an American novelist.
"The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience".

Wednesday 12th October
The soul has infinite patience and that is because it knows it has eternity, whereas the body is always in a rush.So we have too opposing views, why not rectify these views by looking at nature and taking her lead.
"Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience". Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Tuesday 11th October
Never steal a moment, share it PTT
It is so much more fun in life if whenever possible we share are moments with people we like, but it is better if we can share them with people we find hard to get along with because as a body or a soul that is when we learn the most about ourselves.

Monday 10th October
BIRTH OF A SOUL
DON’T WAKE THEM
THEY ARE SLEEPING
FOR ITS NOT QUITE THEIR DAWN
THEY’RE WAITING FOR THEIR BODIES
SO THEY CAN BE REBORN
THEY GO WITH SUCH A PROMISE
A BEAUTY TO BEHOLD
TO LIVE THERE FOR A LIFETIME
UNTIL THEIR STORIES TOLD
LETS HOPE THEY HAVE A GOOD ONE
WITH BENEFITS FOR MAN
LIVES SO FULL OF LOVING
THAT DO THE BEST THEY CAN
THE ANGELS HELP THEIR JOURNEY
TOWARD THE EARTHS SWEET LIGHT
FOR THESE SOULS HAVE A MISSION
TO MAKE THE WORLD JUST RIGHT
IT MAY TAKE MANY LIFETIMES
UNTIL AT LAST THEY SEE
THE FRUITS OF ALL THEIR EFFORTS
A WORLD OF LOVE FOR FREE

Sunday 9th October
According to the Dictionary the word Body means "entire physical structure of an animal or human, the main part of anything, a single entity".
The word Soul means"Spiritual and immortal part of a human being".
How can something that we consider immortal, not have come before a mortal body, that is if you believe we have a soul.

Saturday 8th October
I know if I look in the bible, it will tell me that the body came first, but I believe God(in whatever form you see him) had a task for the soul, so he designed mankind(the body), so the soul could carry out its tasks and because life can be very ardous at times, he put a limit on the lifespan of a body so the soul could go back to source and recover from it's adventures.I hope you have your own ideas.
"We do not know one-millionth of one per cent about anything", Thomas A Edison

Friday 7th October
The question I will be exploring tonight and all next week is quite simple huge or small which ever is your viewpoint.Just as we ask which came first the chicken or the egg? my question is.....
Which came first the soul or the body?
Well I think it was the soul.
Why you might ask, well it is because I believe every cell in our body has a soul
And that each soul in turn has a body which in itself has a soul.
How far back can we go, well how complex is mankind or animalkind or nature or this and the many other universes we inhabit,I believe all these things are divisible by themselves, all things are judge and compared to themselves.
Have a drink (any liquid will suffice) think about it and see where tomorrows thoughts might lead you...........

Thursday 6th October
More about age.....
A Diplomat is a man who always remembers a womens birthday, but never remembers her age. Robert Frost
Now that is tact..

Wednesday 5th October
In this age were people think being ever young is their right and growing old is a disease, here is a little thought about ageing from May Sarton 1912 to 1995 an American author and poet.
Old age is not an illness, it is a timeless ascent. As power diminishes, we grow toward the light.
What a wonderful thought....................

Tuesday 4th October
How we face disappointment is a measure as to how evolve we are.Sometimes we fixate on a failure or a rejection, when really we should look for the lesson, it has given us and learn from it and move on(harder than you think sometimes)
Here is a thought from the book A Course In Miracles
"Nothing can hurt you unless you give it the power to do so".
That is a lesson we would all do well to take in....

Monday 3rd October
Well the traveller has returned from Turkey,I feel a little jaded from the journey, but otherwise refreshed from my break.
"Yes I have doubted,I have wandered off the path,I have been lost. But I always returned.
It is beyond the logic I seek,It is intuitive - an intrinsic,built-in sense of direction.I seem to find my way home.My faith has wavered but has saved me". Helen Hayes 1900-1993 American Actress.

Sunday 25th September
I am off to Turkey tomorrow, so the website will be quiet for a week, unless I chance upon a computer somewhere.
So I'll leave you with these thoughts on travel
"Keep things on your trip in perspective, and you'll be amazed at the perspective you gain on things back home while you are away... One's little world is put into perspective by the bigger world out there". Gail Rubin Bereeny,American writer.

Saturday 24th September
Went to Formby today to arrange a book signing on the 22nd October for Buff MacGregor(my children's book)with Tracy Bleasdale the illustrator at Formby Bookshop, which is housed within the Darbyshire's building.
So if anyone would like to come and me for a chat. I will give you more details closer to the time.
I hope to arrange a book signing and poetry reading there a little later in the year.So watch this space.
This will be a new adventure for me.
"Experience is the child of thought, and thought is the child of action".Benjamin Disraeli.

Friday 23rd September
I am off on my travels again on Monday to Belek in Turkey to sample some sunshine before the call of winter.
So I have placed Octobers Poem Of The Month on early I hope you enjoy it.
"With a new day comes new strengths and new thoughts". Eleanor Roosevelt.

Wednesday 21st September
"Confidence comes not from always being right, but from not fearing to be wrong".Unknown
It's a strange thing confidence, it can easily be shattered by someone who take pleasure in knocking your efforts.
What is worse in life than completing something only to be told of it's faults.
Nothing is perfect in life, but with practise we usually get better at doing things.
Don't let anyone knock your confidence for you are a unique human being and your gifts are endless...

Tuesday 20th September
"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give". Winston Churchill
I try where ever possible to help as many people as I can for that is what I think is a positive thing to do.As Winston said life is about what we can give.
I also like to make people smile when ever I can, here is a thought from Marcel Proust.
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy;they are charming gardeners who make our soul blossom.

Sunday 18th September
"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new".Albert Einstein
Well maybe this is the week to come out of your comfort zone and try something new.
Whether it be work related or leisure, it could even be a change of diet.
"Habit is a great deadener".Samuel Beckett.

Saturday 17th September
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say,and what you do are in harmony".
Mahatma Gandhi
If you are hiding feelings towards someone that are not positive, then the only person you are damaging is yourself. Forget these feelings and free yourself from their shackles and move forward.
Always look for the light in someone, no matter how hard that at first may appear, because when you see their light ,you will be reflecting your light back to them.
"He who lives in harmony with himself, lives in harmony with the world".Marcus Aurelius

Friday 16th September
My thoughts today have turned to thinking about vanity.Vanity takes many forms and I am afraid I don't think any them move this world forward.
We are all guilty of being vain at times, the dictionary definition of vanity is excessive pride.
Well there is one way you can put vanity in its place. That's by simply praising something someone elses has done and valuing it as a gift.
Believe me the gift of valuing other peoples work is brilliant, as you get to share in their pleasure and you just might inspire yourself.
"You are surrounded by gifts every living moment of everyday.Let yourself feel appreciation for their presence in your life and take the time to acknowledge their splendour".
Lon G Nungesser Writer

Thurday 15th September
I had to do a repair on yesterdays poem for I must have had an attack of word blindness and read straight through some of my mistakes.
Here is a point to ponder.
Eckhart Tolle posed this question.
"If there was no mankind and God asked what time it was ? How do you think the trees or birds or even insect would respond".
As they would be to busy living this moment with no thoughts of future or past, they would have to say the time is now.
Why can't we accept we only have the now, we would be so much more contented and take from each moment only it's very best.

Wednesday 14thSeptember
FORGOTTEN MEMORIES
I LIVE WITH ALL MY MEMORIES
THOUGH SOME I HAVE FORGOT
LIKE THE BONDS I BUILT IN CHILDHOOD
THEN LEFT IN TIME TO ROT
THOSE MOMENTS WHEN A CUDDLE
JUST TOOK AWAY MY CARES
SOMETIMES I SWEAR TO GOD
AND WISH THAT I WAS THERE
THE FRIENDS WHO ASKED FOR NOTHING
BUT SAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY
AND THE LONGEST DAYS OF SUNSHINE
THAT ONCE DID COME MY WAY
HOW COULD I BE SO SILLY
TO LET THEM FADE FROM SIGHT
NOW I WANT TO LIVE THEM ALL AGAIN
AND REMEMBER THEM JUST RIGHT
BUT TIME IS ON THE WING NOW
AND THE PAST IS LONG AGO
ENCASED WITHIN THOSE MEMORIES
OF A ME I USED TO KNOW

Monday 12th September
Well the wind has certainly had its say today, with the Lombardy Populars at the back of my garden roaring and swaying with most of their leaves still in place. I dont suppose that will be the case when the night is over.
"A man has at least made a start in discovering the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he will never sit".
D Elton Trueblood Quaker Scholar.

Sunday 11th September
How many people have there family around them for Sunday Dinner, I sometimes think it is a lost tradition, well whenever we can, we have all our family back together for dinner and it makes a Sunday feel that little bit more special. It also gives us a chance to bring one and another up to speed on how our week has gone, good or bad. Here are few thoughts of mine to ponder over.
"There is nothing safer than to dwell in a place you call home
With your family all around no matter where you've roamed
For ships must have a harbour to guard them from life's storm
What better place to be then
Than with those from which your born".
Have a happy week.............

Saturday 10th September
Here is a very positive and simple statement from the Koran
"He deserves paradise who makes his companions laugh".
For laughter and the making of laughter, draws all the tension out of the world. So if you think you are becoming to seriou, give yourself over to some fun and find something to laugh at.
"Humour is mankind's greatest blessing".
Mark Twain

Friday 9th September
One of the things people continually say to me is,Oh I could never be able to do that.
Well guess what, I never believed I could write and publish a book(three down and I don't know how many more to come), until I tried and succeeded.Trying things is not without its trials but the results are well worth the effort.
Until you aspire to do something, how will you ever know what you are capably of.
Here are a few thoughts on Ability from Norman Vincent Peale
"One of the greatest of all principles is that men can do what they think they can do".

Wednesday 7th September
Book sales of Buff Macgregor have started and they are steady but slow.If you would like to purchase a copy while my Book Sales Page is being set up you, can order them through my email address philtodd.oldroan@hotmail.com.
If you would like to hear more about Tracy Bleasdale and her pictures, she can be contacted at tracybleasdale@hotmail.co.uk
Enough about my book, now to todays theme.
We all at times dance with our Ego's and I know in the past I have danced with mine, but dancing with your ego is like a dog chasing its own tail, it does not make sense and it makes the dog look ridiculous.
Sometimes people can put an idea into your head which boosts your ego and before you know it, you have said or done something you will come to regret.
So if you think that your ego is getting the better of you, look around at nature it does pay heed to ego's it does what it's supposed to do regardless of the stupity of man. After all an ego is a self centered folly.

Monday 5th September
Well it seems Autumn has took a hold today with high winds and rain.
Here is a Sanskit Proverb to ponder...
"Look to this day...In it lies all the realities and verities of existence, the bliss of growth, the splendour of action, the glory of power. For yesterday is but a dream and tomorrow is only a vision. But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope".

Sunday 4th September
After spending the day indoors yesterday because of the rain, it was nice to get into my garden today and catch up on the weeding etc.(If a person can create a menu using only weeds, then he or she will make a fortune)
The problem with gardening all day is you end up aching all over and in places you did not know existed.
"Yes, in the poor man's garden grow
Far more than herbs and flowers
Kind thoughts, contentments,peace of mind,
And joy for weary hours".(Mary Howitt English Author)

Saturday 3rd Setember
"If you want to become whole,
let yourself become partial.
If you want to become straight,
let yourself become crooked.
If you want to become full,
let yourself become empty.(Tao Te Ching)
When you meditate try following this advise and empty your mind and it will soon be filled with wonder.....

Friday 2nd September
I have now got from the printer my books and they are really well laid out
Here are some thoughts about the value of books from Michel de Montaigne 1533-1592
"When I am attacked by gloomy thoughts, nothing helps me so much as running to my books. They quickly absorb me and banish the clouds from my mind."

Thursday 1st September
Tomorrow I take delivery of my first print run of my children's book Buff MacGregor, it has been 2 years in the making and I am looking forward to having something new to sell.
At first I could not seem to find anyone to illustrate the book, but I am happy to say Tracy Bleasdale took on the task and what a brillant job she has done.
The layout of the book has been done by Pam Shea who is a regular contributor here at Amelia Press, this is the third book she has worked on with me, she always brings fresh ways of thinking to all my work.
Another Pam from Print Solution helped with all the printing problems, which she took care of with ease.
Finally my thanks go out to my Family and the Angels for their neverending support.
If you would like a copy of my book or more information about it, you can e mail me at philtodd.oldroan@hotmail.com.
Have a happy September.................

Wednesday 31st August
People say that experience is everything in life, well here are some other thoughts on experience..
"Experience is the wisdom that enables us to recognise the folly that we have already embraced".(Ambrose Bierce 1842-1914)
The dictionary definition of thr word folly is
Foolishness, foolish action or idea or useless extravagant building.
I think perhaps I will let someone else have the experience and I will learn by watching the results..

Monday 29th August
A thought on friendship
"To know someone here or there with whom you feel there is understanding in spite of distances or thoughts unexpressed-that can make of this earth a garden".(Johann von Goethe)
If you have been neglecting a friend why not get in touch with them this week and remind yourself why they are your friend.

Sunday 28th August
Here is a little thoughtfulness for Sunday
"Teach me to feel another's woe
To hide what I see,
That mercy I to others show
That mercy show to me."
(Alexander Pope 1788-1844)
You have to remember that every seed that you sow in life; good or bad; will reward you with a harvest.
So make sure it's a harvest you want...

Saturday 27th August
I hope you enjoy the Poem of the Month for September called Orchestrate.
The rain here today meant I could not spend much time in my garden, which was a pity as the flowers are really colourful at the moment.
Still there is always tomorrow.
As soon as I can spare some time from pushing my Children's book(Buff MacGregor) I will be adding some new features to my Website, so please keep dropping in from time to time to check out for these changes.

Friday 26th August
Today I met some people who I used to work with and they expressed to me how much they missed working with me and were all eager to engage me in conversation, it was a lovely experience and one I am thankful for.So here is a few words on Friends from Robert Louis Stevenson
"So long as we are loved by others I should say that we are almost indispensable; and no man is useless while he has a friend".

Thursday 25th August
"What lies behind us,and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us"(Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Everytime I think something is beyond me, I ask for help from the heavens and the problem seems to get resolved,no always the way I want it resolved, but resolved never the less.
"One of the greatest of all priniciples is that men can do what they think they can do."(Norman Vincent Peale)

Tuesday 23rd August
Tonight I received the first printed copy of my children's book to check over and I am really pleased with the way it has turned out.(How to obtain a copy will follow in the coming weeks)
So here are some words of joy to the Angels.
JOY BRINGER
YOU BRING TO LIFE SWEET MOMENTS
LIKE JEWELS WITHIN A CROWN
ALL ABOUT US YOU SPREAD WONDERS
IN AIR AND ON THE GROUND
YOUR COLOURS ARE SUCH VISTAS
IT’S HARD TO UNDERSTAND
HOW MANY WORLDS ARE MISSING
THE TOUCH OF YOUR FAIR HAND
YOUR WINGS THEY HERALD LOVING
BEYOND ALL LIFES COMPARE
BOTH NOW AND EVERLASTING
I’LL SURRENDER TO YOUR CARE
P T Todd 2008

Monday 22nd August
Here is a piece from the Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan which is quite profound and also very true.Considering when it was wrote it seems ahead of its time, but I am sure it wasn't.
"Little fleas have lesser fleas upon their backs to bite them
And lesser fleas have lesser fleas and so have infinitum".
We must seem like a load of fleas to Mother Earth, lets hope she hasn't got any flea powder.........

Sunday 21st August
Here is a poem for Sunday to get you thinking
A BUBBLE
I LIVE WITHIN A BUBBLE
THAT FLOATS IN OUTER SPACE
IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH ROOM UP
IN FACT IT LEAVES NO TRACE
THE ONLY WAY YOU‘LL FIND IT
IS TO LOOK WITHIN YOUR MIND
IN PLACES THAT ARE QUIET
WHERE SLEEPY THOUGHTS RESIDE
THEY DRIFT AND GLIDE TOGETHER
NOT REALLY IN A SHAPE
FOR THEY ARE LOVING MOMENTS
YOU‘VE LEFT WITHIN YOUR WAKE

Saturday 20th August
It amazing how many people admit to me that they believe in Angels and they all seem to have a little tale to tell me, it is a really nice experience for me, so as a thank you here is some thoughts on gifts in life....
"You are surrounded by gifts every living moment of every day.Let yourself feel appreciation for their presence in your life and take the time to acknowledge their splendour". (Lon G Nungesser Writer)

Friday 19th August
I often think in daydreams
Of how I'd like to be
For heroes or villians
They all reside in me
I hope to show my nice side
In all the things I do
But to say that I am perfect
Well that would be untrue
I try to be so caring
But sometimes I fall short
For I am only human
And dreams are merely thoughts......
This an instant poem that just dropped into my head,
and is a whimsical look at myself.
I have spent most of the week going over my childrens book looking for mistakes and I think I have become word blind.

Tuesday 16th August
Sometime you realise that Poets can say some remarkable things in their verse, take William Blake for instance in his Poem "Auguries of Innocence" he writes.
"To see the world in a grain of sand,
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour"
These are just wonderful thoughts.
Why not look back to my first Poem Of The Month called Quantum Variable and the informatiom box attached, for science is indeed at last catching up with natures patterns and my poem was expressing
my thoughts on the subject.

Monday 15th August
Home from my travels after a lovely relaxing weekend at The Kensington Guest House in Scarborough. The hosts Joy and John made us really welcome.
"We cannot always return an act of kindness to the person who bestowed it,but we can pay back the debt by helping others"(Anonymous)

Thursday 10th August
The weekend starts early for me this week with a few days in Scarborough, lots of sea air and probably a little rain, still it will wash the cobwebs away.
"Take time to think...it is the source of power.
Take time to play....it is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take time to read... it is the fountain of wisdom.
Take time to pray....it is the greatest power on earth.
Take time to laugh... it is the music of the soul.
Take time to give.. it is too short a day to be selfish".(Anonymous)
Have a nice weekend....

Tuesday 9th August
"Miracles are instantaneous;they cannot be summoned but they come of themselves, usually at unlikely moments and to those who least expect them".(Katherine A Porter 1890-1980 American Author)
I hope all the people in the world who need a miracle now, find one.
"There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle".(Albert Einstein)I am with Albert in those thoughts.

Monday 8th August
Since I have not been able to get onto the Website I have decided in future to up date it, just three or four times a week. This due to the launch of my children's book at the end of the month and quite a bit of reading I feel I should catch up on.Plus if this were not enough I am learning a new job in work which is mostly computer based, so I need to build some exercise back into my life.Lead me to the garden please.
"Seek ye councel of the aged, for their eyes have looked on the faces of the years and their ears have hearkened to the voices of life.Even if their counsel is displeasing to you, pay heed to them".
Kahlil Gibran
I am reading The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age(understanding fractal time) by Gregg Braden
I am finding it hard to put down.....................

Wednesday 27th July
"I wanted you to see what real courage is,
instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand.
It's when you know you're licked before you begin
but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what."(Harper Lee)

Tuesday 26th July
I have posted Augusts Poem Of The Month called Sleeping Buddha and I have also put a new video on my You Tube channel called Despertar (Archangles) absolutely beautiful....
"The only thing I know about love is that love is all there is....Love can do all but raise the dead."(Emily Dickinson)

Monday 25th July
"To man a cobweb is a sign of cleaning neglect
To a spider it is a dinner table." PTT
It is how we view things that determines how we react to them.
Next time you are called upon to react to something, take a moment to consider your motives and if they are not truly caring and honest rethink them.

Sunday 24th July
I've just spent a nice day gardening and getting my hands dirty.
The colours in my garden at the moment are just brilliant.
I am getting all my trees clipped this week and unfortunately I am also getting my Eucalyptus tree the pride of my garden, chopped right down from over 30 feet to six. It had succumbed to that heavy frost of last winter and most of the tree has died off. The Tree Surgeon has said this course of action is the best we can do for the tree and it will probably sprout out again at the bottom.
The sunsets do look beautiful through its dead leaves though.
Still if it does come back at least someone in the future will be able to enjoy sitting beneath its dappled shade.God bless my Eucalyptus......
"Be still sad heart; and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall."
(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

Saturday 23rd July
Here is a thought on Optimism.
"As you make your way through life;Let this ever be your goal,
Keep your eye upon the doughnut
And not upon the hole".

Friday 22nd July
Are you content, are you happy with your own company.
It amazes me how many people are not content with their own company.
The strange thing is, you really only have your own company, no matter how many people or things you try and fill the space of time with.
"To be content, look backwards on those who possess less than youself, not forward on those who possess more."(Benjamin Franklin)

Thursday 21st July
"Laughter is the sensation of felling good all over, and showing it principally in one place."(Josh Billings)
It is also very good for your health to try and see the humour in every situation.......

Wednesday 20th July
"Time is the substance I am made of.
Time is a river which sweeps me along, but I am the river;
it is a tiger that devours me,but I am a tiger;
it is the fire that consumes me.but I am the fire."
Jorge Luis Borges 1899-1986

Tuesday 19th July
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined" (Henry David Thoreau)
We are what we dream, so make your dreams worthy of you.
"Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars"(Les Brown)

Monday 18th July
Gosh the weather is wild today, hopefully it will clear up.
Lets start the week with some nice positive thoughts.
Many people realise their heart's desire late in life.Continue learning, never stop striving and keep your curiosity sharp, and you never become too old to appreciate life.(Anonymous)

Sunday 17th July
You take and make life easy
With your superficial smile
Your hands out stretched for grasping
For you won't be denied
But what about some payback
I really think it's due
You gave a little thought now
On what you have to do
To try and make amends now
For all that you have been
One of life's true takers
Your ways has been obscene
For gifts are meant for sharing
With everyone you meet
For when you give with loving
You life becomes a treat.
Phil T
There surely is no better feeling that when you give.

Saturday 16th July
"If a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking him if there's anything you can do.Think of something appropriate and do it."(E W Howe- American Writer)
Actions will always speak louder than words, so if it feels right, just do it.

Friday 15th July
"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself".Ralph Waldo Emerson
May all your efforts for others, get their just rewards.

Thursday 14th July
In Memory Of A Cloud
When you think of me tomorrow,
Please do it with a smile
For I'm the one who sheltered you
From burning rays up high
Please think of me as quenching
The flowers in their beds.
For they were slowly wilting
 Before my rain I fed
And what about my shadow
I cast upon the land
So you could see the colours
That nature put at hand
Or how about the moonbeams
I chased up to the stars
So you could have the darkness
Your sleepy thoughts devours
So when you think tomorrow
Surely you will see
A friend that's passing by you
Within the sky for free.
Phil T
just a passing thought....................

Wednesday 13th July
Here is a thought that I have used before but is well worth repeating, because it says so much in so few words.
"What lies behind us and before us are small matters compared to what lies within us".(Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Tuesday 12th July
"You are like a radio station that can receive many stations. What you receive depends on what you pay attention to".(Orin)
Make sure that you listen to the positive voices and not the many negative ones that bombard you each and everyday.
For you are meant for only the very best things in life.

Monday 11th July
I hope you liked yesterdays Poem.
Here is a thought on achievement from David Malouf an Australian Writer.
"All the things we achieve are things we have first imagined and then made happen.

Sunday 10th July
Perhaps I'm just a guardian, of everything I see.
And really own but nothing, for all in life is free.
From flowers in the garden, to little birds that fly.
Each thing it has its moment, within this world to lie
Though lifetimes maybe fleeting, at last in truth I see
No matter what I think I own
There's nought belongs to me.
P T Todd

Saturday 9th July
Conscience
I have always had a conscience that would tell me right away, if I ventured to far from the good to the bad, however some people seem to have the ability to switch off their consciences when it comes to making money etc. But I believe all the money in the world cannot buy them out of the consequences of their actions and they will be judge not by others or God, but by their higher self.I wish them the very best of luck with that.
"A good conscience is a soft pillow".(German Proverb)

Friday 8th July
"It is a blessed thing that in every age someone has had the individuality enough and the courage enough to stand by his own convictions"(Roger G Ingersoll 1833-1899 American Lawyer)
I stand by my convictions in as much that I have a firm and loving belief in Angels and in all the good they do in this world and the next.
May the God of your choosing and all his Angels, please spread Unconditional Love all over your life this weekend.

Thursday 7th July
I have just received the first draft of my childrens book for inspection and both the illustrator and book designer have done a brilliant job,I feel blessed to have their support.
Achievement(these few words illustrate my belief that your are never to old to do something new and exciting)
"It was a golden year beyond my dreams, I proved you're never too old to achieve what you really want to do"(Heather Turland born in Australia 1960 won a gold medal at 38 in the womans marathonin the Commonwealth Games)

Wednesday 6th July
It is amazing how sometimes negative things and people invade your space during the course of a week.
And how some weeks appear to a greater trial than they should be.
People can take an instant dislike to you for no reason at all or wish you to fail at something, hoping misguidedly to benefit from your failure.
Well while I don't like these type of weeks, I understand that they are neccessary sometimes for growth and to me stop me(god forbid) from feeling too superior.
Well here is a very humble me, offering this piece of hope from Charles Sawyer 1887-1979 Writer
"Of all the forces that make a better world, none is so indispensable, none so powerful as hope. Without hope man is only half alive."

Tuesday 5th July
Sometimes your faults come to the surface and bite you whether they be envy, greed or thinking you don't have to double check thing(this last one is definitely mine)still I will keep working at it.
"The greatest fault is to be conscious of none"(Thomas Carlyle)

Monday 4th July
"He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace at home".(Johann Von Goethe)
May your find peace and tranquilty in your home this week>
"The ideal of happiness has always taken material form in the house, whether cottage or castle; it stands for permanence and separation from the world".(Michel de Montaigne)

Sunday 3rd July
I hope you enjoyed yesterdays surprise poem, I wrote it in 2009 and then quietly forgot about it.
It just seemed to appear yesterday when I was looking for something else.
I have spent most of the last few days pottering in the garden, and ercharging my battries ready for the launch of my children's book in a few weeks time.
I will give you more information near the time of publication.
Here is a nice thought to start the week from Nathaniel Hawthorne 1804-1864 American Novelist.
"Happiness is as a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you".

Saturday 2nd July
IT’S SOMEONE ELSES SUMMER

IT’S SOMEONE ELSES SUMMER
IT REALLY ISN’T MINE
IT BELONGS TO ALL THE FLOWERS
ENRICHED BY GODS DESIGN
TO THE LOVELY LITTLE SONGBIRDS
THAT SERENADE EACH DAY
TO TREES WITH ALL THEIR FOILAGE
AS ON THE BREEZE THEY PLAY
IT BELONGS TO THE SOUNDS OF WATER
DASHING OVER FALLS
TO THE CHUBBY LITTLE BULLFROGS
AS FROM THEIR ROCKS THEY CALL
IT BELONGS TO ALL THE CHILDREN
WHO RUN AND DANCE AND PLAY
IT BELONGS TO ALL THE LOVERS
WHO BENEATH ITS CLOUDS DO LAY
IT’S ONE OF NATURES WONDERS
THAT VISIT EVERY YEAR
A TIME TO BATHE IN SUNSHINE
AND BRUSH AWAY OUR FEARS
THE WINTER IS FORGOTTEN
WHILE LOST AMIDST HER SPELL
IT’S SOMEONE ELSES SUMMER
BUT YOU NEVER REALLY TELL
  Love and Light

"The secret is that love isn't about someone else loving you.It is about your ability to love yourself and the people around you, regardless of what the world does or doesn't give you.Love isn't about outside proof".(Rhonda Britten author of Fearless Living)
There are so many people today who for one reason or another don't seem to like or love themselves .But to really love and give love to someone, we must learn to love ourselves first.

Thursday 30th June
Here is a inspirational statement from Orison Sweet Marden founder of Success Magazine.
Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers;powers that would astonish him, that he never dreamed of possessing; forces that would revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action.

Wednesday 29th June
"He who knows others is learned;he who knows himself is wise"(Loa Tze c. 604BC)
We all hope to obtain some wisdom in our lifetime, but you can't help wondering sometimes if some people have missed the point.
Or maybe I should have the wisdom only to worry about what I do myself.
"Nine-Tenths of wisdom is being wise in time"(Theodore Roosevelt)

Tuesday 28th June
I have at times been accused of being a little inpatience, and this is not something I can argue about. But as I have got older, I have tried to improve on my tolerance levels which now are good.
Here are two thoughts on Patience.
"Never cut what you can untie"(Joseph Joubert)
"With time and patience the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown"(Chinese Saying)
I have posted July's Poem Of The Month A Fountain Of Youth...

Monday 27th June
"I believe the future is only the past again, entered through another gate"(Sir Arthur Wing Pinero)
Does history really repeat itsel? do we continue to make the same mistakes? Have we really advanced beyond Cavemen?
Well if youwatch the news it might make you wonder.People should think and follow this advice from Josh Billings
"Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you do hold well"

Sunday 26th June
Have you ever commited yourself to a cause and then had doubts whether it was the right thing to do or not, well if your gut feeling says it's wrong then it is wrong.
In thought and mind we should always be flexible and at least listen to the other persons point of view. You do not have to change you mind, just way up the different options.
We know what happens to people who stay in the middle of the road. They get run over".(Aneurin Bevin)

Saturday 25th June
Because I believe in cycles of life or if you like vibrations.I believe that everything we see or touch has an amount of time to live before it dies and is reborn. Now that can the form of a man or even a mountain, if enough time elaspses these things will cease to be in their current form and will evolve into the next form of evolution.
"The Hindu religion is the only one of the world's great faiths dedicated to the idea that the Cosmos itself undergoes an immense, indeed infinite , number of deaths and rebirths".(Carl Sagan 1934-1996 pioneering astronomer)
In fact I believe the spirit or soul never dies, but vibrates at different speeds sometime in one plain of existance, sometimes in another.
All the time evolving and learning how to be a being of unconditional love.................

Friday 24th June
Guilt
There's no point in being crippled by guilt.Simply acknowledge to yourself that you have done something wrong, learn by it, and get on with the rest of your life.(Anonymous)
How I wish more people could just except the meaning of this thought. It would save a lot of wasted time and upset. If people could only see the power they give to negative events they would realise the power they give away in worry.
"Lift up your eyes and look on another in innocence born of complete forgiveness of each other's illusions". (from A Course In Miracles)

Thursday 23rd June
Today I have been thinking about Angels, the gifts they bring, their silent care and above all else the love the generate towards us.
We, if we would only believe it are the richest of all things between heaven and earth.
"It is to those who perceive through symbols, the poets, the artists, and seekers for meaning, that the angel makes himself known"(Theodora Ward)

Wednesday 22nd June
More on Peace this is quote has no known author.
"Find peace within yourself by accepting not only what you are,but what you are never going to be"
Now there is a hard thing for some people to get to grips with.
The trouble is they are probably missing out on just how good they really are.

Tuesday 21st June
At the moment I am inclined to not read papers and I try to avoid the news as it is always doom and gloom.
I am not saying these things they report don't occur, it's just I feel I need a rest to all this negativity.
Mankind is supposed to be a positive vessel of Caring and Love, so I will asked the Angels to bless everybody with their love and care. Here is a little thought about Peace from Gandhi.
"I am a man of peace.I believe in peace. But I do not want peace at any price.I do not want the peace that you find in a stone;I do not want the peace that you find in a grave; But I do want the peace which you find embedded in the human brest, which is exposed to the arrows of the world, but which is protected from all harm by the power of almighty God"

Monday 20th June
With having these Mondays off I,ve started to do all the jobs I had been putting off like clearing out cupboards and tidying the garden etc.
It's then I realise just how much paper I use, no wonder forrest are disappearing, well at least I can shred it and recycle it.
It maybe time to recycle a few old friends to and catch up with them, to see how their lives are evolving.
Here is a nice thought on Friendship from Samuel Taylor Coolridge.(English Poet)
"Friendship is a sheltering tree".

Sunday 19th June
I say to you: one must have chaos in oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star(Friedrich Nietzsche German Philosopher)
How poor would life be, if a little bit of chaos did not test our resolve every now and then.
It is always a opportunity to grow when we overcome chaos and see its gifts.

Saturday 18th June
What do you think about numbers, especially the ones that keep recurring, you start to see them everywhere. At the moment I keep seeing my favorite numbers,2 and 22 sometimes apart but also together 222.Don't ask me why but I feel they are going to be so lucky for me.
Now down to todays thought from Gill Edwards "Choose whatever makes your heart sing and your spirit dance"
Well that sounds like an invitation to me, I'm off to do some gardening (to each his own as they say)

Friday 17th June
Well here I am back at my own computer after a lovely holiday in Monti Gordo Portugal, I did as you can see from below, write a message on my blog while I was there, but the computer in the hotel had seen better days and most of the keyboard keys kept sticking so I gave up and buried myself in a book and did a lot of walking and meeting interesting people and exploring some hidden gems.
Continueing with the chaos theme and doing my own thing from last Sunday blog, I went to places on the days when tour firm didn't, so I could wander around without too many other people disturbing my thoughts. Tivara near where we where staying was particulary good, full of history and beautiful gardens tucked away just out of sight. I got lots of photos for my next book of Inspirational Poetry.
Here is a thought on Peace from Father Alexander Elchaninov (Russian Priest)
Do not be in a hurry to fill up empty space with words and embellishments, before it has been filled with deep interior peace,

Sunday 12th June
Hello from Portugal the weather is really hot with a cloudless sky.
The topic for this holiday is the chaos factor and I am afraid I am the chaos factor, I just seem to do things that other people dont expect, whether that be the way I get coffee from the coffee machine or or how I cross the road. I just do it my way and not the way everyone else does, the question is who is rifght the answer is we are all right, because there is no wrong way to do anything in life.
Have a good week..

Wednesday 8th June
"A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it"(George Moore Irish Writer)
The Website will be quiet for a few days as I am going th Portugal.
I hope to find a computer in the hotel I am staying at to log on to, so I can keep my Blog up to date.
"Home is any four walls that enclose the right person." (Helen Rowlands American Writer)

Tuesday 7th June
The Happiest People don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything....
This statement is so true, the number of people I know who are forever buy things without really getting the pleasure out of what they already have.
The same goes for their time, they always seem to be living for some mythical point in the future.
Why don't they wake up and realise now is the only time there really is................
Why not take a minute to listen to a Poem by Kahlil Gibran on my You Tube Channel about love...

Monday 6th June
What do you consider the most blissful thing you can do?
For me it is when I give away something I really want myself.
For that is when I am really giving.
Or when people smile when I arrive in their company.
Because I know they are glad to see me.
Whatever your blissful moments are, make the very best of them and dress yourself in the love they produce.

Sunday 5th June
"Treasure the love you receive above all.It will survive long after your gold and good health have vanished"
(Og Mandino - American Author)
The only thing of any value you leave your loved ones is the memory of your love.
How you have shown your love varies from person to person.
More from Og.
"I will greet this day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? Henceforth will I look on all things with love and I will be born again.I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit.I will love the light for it shows me the way;yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars.I will welcome happiness for it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul.I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due;I will welcome obstacles for the are my challenge."

Saturday 4th June
Here are a couple of thoughts from me.
"Your past is just that and should never be allowed to infect this present moment".
The number of people I have met who cannot put their foot on yesterday history and move on is really surprising.Make sure you are not one of them.
"You only really see someone when you can see their light".
This means always looking and expecting to see the best in someone, then you will never meet anyone you don' like.

Friday 3rd June
Each person experiences a unique reality, different from any other individual's.This reality springs outward from the inner landscape of thoughts, feelings, expectations and beliefs.(Seth)
In Buddism they believe as you think so you are, and so do I. Manys a day have I spoilt by thinking negatively about myself or a situation I have found myself in.
Now however I just ask for help and things seem to resolve themselves.
I know this seems over simply, but it works for me.
What have got to lose except maybe a few worries,go on give it a try............

Tuesday 31st May
This week marks the end of my present job and a move from one office to another, I have worked with some really nice caring people in the last 5 years or so I will be sorry to move on,but life alters and change is part of evolution.Change is not a problem if you think the right way, that it is opportunity waiting. Here is what Marcus Aurelius thought of change.
"Keep in mind in how many things you yourself have already seen change. The universe is change. Life is understanding"

Monday 30th May
When Beatrix Potter could no longer roam on the hills of the Lake District, she wrote this
"Thank God I have the seeing eye, that is to say,as I lie in bed I can walk step by step on the fells and rough land seeing every stone and flower and patch of bog and cotton pass where my old legs will never take me again".
There are lots of people who are trapped in their own little world of maybe one or two rooms, because their bodies have given of their best and can longer carry them further a field.
No matter how small or restricted their little world is, I hope it is filled with love.
I have posted a video on my You Tube Channel. It is a beautiful reading of Kahlil Gibran thoughts on love.....

Sunday 29th May
This was Kahlil Gibran take on religion and if people followed the same philosophy, it would make for a more peaceful world.
"I love you my brother, whoever you are- whether you worship in your church, kneel in your temple, or pray in your mosque. You and I are all the children of one faith, for the diverse paths of religion are fingers of the loving hand of one Supreme Being, a hand extended to all, offering completeness of spirit to all, eager to receive all"

Saturday 28th May
Have you ever sat with two people who are friends and notice that sometimes they just sit there without speaking and seem so very comfortable with each other and neither sees the need to fill in the silence thats true friendship.
"To know someone here or there with whom you feel there is understanding in spite of distances or thoughts unexpressed- that can make of this earth a garden".
Johann Van Goethe 1749-1832

Friday 27th May
I have posted the Poem of the Month for June.
Here is a wonderful thought from George Bernard Shaw.
I want to be throughly used up when I die...Life is no brief candle to me.It's a sort of spendid torch which I've got to hold up for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations..

Wednesday 25th May
Here is a very short thought from Seren Aaby Kierkegaard (1813 - 1855)Danish Philosopher..
Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forward........

Tuesday 24th May
The days fly by and sometimes we forget where we are up to, so why not take a deep breath and ponder this from Kahlil Gibran.
Should you really open your eyes and see,you would behold your image in all images.
And should you open your ears and listen, you would hear your own voice in all voices.
PS Jarvis are rather large ginger cat decided to sit on my laptop as I was writing this out, needless to say I had to barter with him with strokes to get him to move.

Monday 23rd May
Here is a positive start to your week.
Set your sights high, the higher the better.Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now.Realise that nothing is too good.Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way....(Eileen Caddy Co-Founder of the Findhorn Foundation Scotland)
Have a good week...
P.S. The website is 2 years old today.

Sunday 22nd May
Your conscience is like your advisor, it tells you how you should approach life. When you ignore it and proceed with a venture that you really shouldn't, it usually comes back and haunts you.
I like to think that everybody in the world has a conscience, but sometimes when I see what some people do, it does make you wonder.
The voice of conscience is so delicate that it is easy to stifle it:but it is also so clear that it is impossible to mistake it.(MmeAnne De Stael 1766-1862 Swiss born- French Writer)

Friday 20th May
A small drop of ink makes thousands perhaps millions...think.(Lord Byron)
I suppose the same thing can be said about the internet, but instead of ink making you think,it's the pressing of a key on a keyboard.
So whatever you read this weekend I hope it brings you peace.
Deep peace of the running wave to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you
(Celtic Benediction)

Thursday 19th May
I have just come in from gardening tired weary and happy.
Opened a book at random and read this.
Look to this day...In it lies all the realities and verities of existence, the bliss of growth, the splendour of action, the glory of power. For yesterday is but a dream and tomorrow is only a vision. But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope (Sanskrit Proverb)

Wednesday 18th May
Each person experiences a unique reality, different from any other individual's. This reality springs outward from the inner landscape of thoughts, feelings, expectations and beliefs.(Seth)
What this is really saying is we all see things differently and if we all except this and allow for others to have their own thoughts and points of view the world would be a much happier and peaceful place.

Tuesday 17th May
Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work,so most people don't recognise them.(Ann Landers American Journalist)
Well I suspect that most of us have missed millions of opportunities at that rate.
But why not take this opportunity to phone someone you haven't spoke to for while, thats if you are not working to hard.

Monday 16th May
Great is the power of might and mind.
But only love can make us kind.
And all we are or hope to be.
Is empty pride and vanity-If love is not a part of all
The grestest man is very small.
(Helen Steiner Rice 1900-1981)
A very poetic way of saying spread love not conflict.

Sunday 15th may
Wisdom
Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it.There is no fool so great as the knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.(Charles Haddon Spurgeon Baptist Preacher 1834-1892)
How many times have I met people who think they are more superior to others, because they have more knowledge than them.It never crosses their mind, that the knowledge they have maybe of no interest to the person they think should know it.
In seeking wisdom,the first step is silence,the second listening,the third remembering,the fourth practising,the fifth-teaching others(Ibn Gabirol Jewish Poet 1020-1070)

Saturday 14th May
I wonder as you get older do you still have that same vest for your life, do you still have plenty of hopes and dreams to try and bring into being. Well here is what Sara Henderson(Australian Writer) thought on the subject of dreams.
Always live your life with one more dream to fulfil. No matter how many of your dreams you have realised in the past, always have a dream to go.Because when you stop dreaming life becomes a mundane existence.

Friday 13th May
Last week I could not have predicted the week I was about to face.
I started the week in a settled job with people I love and had my very first Monday off on partial retirement. Then at the stroke of someones pen and their lust to wheeled power, my workplace was changes forever. The office I was in was to be disbanded and although I was not going to get the sack there was no new role for me or my close colleagues.
What could or should I do.
Well I asked my Angels for their help, then surprise surprise today I had a new job offer and an opportuntity for a settled future.
Did I give thanks to my Angels? you bet your bottom dollar I did, I feel truly blessed.
Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has many, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have a few.(Charles Dickins)

Thursday 12th May
Do you ever have days when your patience is tested to the limit and you think enough is enough.Well Harriet Beecher Stowe thought she had the answer to these type of days, with these thoughts.
When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.

Wednesday 11th May
Have you got a true friend, well here is what Ralph Waldo Emerson thought of friendship.
The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him.

Tuesday 10th May
I am pleased to say that this month poem has obtained a life of its own, with several people requesting it in a frame to keep at home and others passing it on via their e mails to people who they think might benefit from a little Angelic help.
I hope when you view this poem you to get some help from the Angels.

Monday 9th May
Here is some positive thoughts for the week from Art Linkletter.
Do a little more than you're paid to;
Give a little more than you have to;
Try a little harder than you want to;
Aim a little higher than you think possible;
And give a lot of thanks to God for health, family and friends.

Sunday 8th May
Here are some thoughts to ponder from Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within the reach of every hand.Anyone may gather it and no limit is set.Everyone can reach this love through meditation, spirit of prayer, and sacrifice,by an intense inner life.
Take sometime this Sunday for yourself and enjoy your own company. If you think you have not got time for yourself, then think on this. I was once told that if you think of your life as a big round cake and it is cut into slices labelled by the things you have to do, like housework,DIY,parenting etc.
Then if the biggest slice is not just for yourself then your life balance is wrong.Seems selfish I know but you only have one life (well in your present body anyway).
Love and Light.....

Friday 6th May
This is the first of my long weekends, now I don't have to work on a Monday (Partial Retirement)
So I have lined up some jobs and I will take a run at them at my new pace, which is three times slower than it used to be. But the up side is I can saviour every moment.
Every revolution was first a thought in one man's mind.(Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Thursday 5th May
In the next few days I will have to make some far reaching dicisions. As I hate making dicisions this is not a comfortable thing for me to do, so I will ask the Angels for guidance.
At least my dicisions are nothing to do with health or things of that nature, so I am very lucky.
However I must proceed with caution, so as not to offend or make anyone feel less important that they really are.
As always I looked to see what greater thinkers than I thought about making dicisions.
You don't drown by falling in water. You drown by staying there.(Anonymous)
No trumpets sound whenthe important decisions of our life are made.Destiny is made known silently.(Agnes de Mille)

Wednesday 4th May
When you see someone suffering with their problems, as likely as not they just want to be left alone to deal with them, but always give them the choice of your help in case they have a change of mind.
Sympathy is thinking with your heart(Anonymous)

Tuesday 3rd May
When you are asked a question about your good points do you play them down and admit to your failings instead.
Do you have trouble expressing the good things you can do for others.
Well you are part of a big club, a club that needs a mindreader to measure it's worth.
It is not really boasting to tell people when you think you are good at something, they just might need your help in that area of expertises sometime.
No-one is useless in the world who lightens the burden of it for anyone else.(Charles Dickens)

Monday 2nd May
I often tell people that they are special and unique, but sometimes you just know it is falling on deaf ears as they just carry on and follow the crowd.
They miss the fact that they have their own individuality, they are frightened to be different, but they should realise that all the great achievers in history thought for themselves.
Every individual human being born on this earth has the capacity to become a unique and special person, unlike any who has ever existed before or will ever exist again.(Elisabeth Kubler-Ross)
I have place a new music video onto my You Tube Channel John Whelan -Longing for home - Just Beautiful

Sunday 1st May
When I examine myself and my methods of thought,I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge(Albert Einstein)
We all love to imagine that one day we will have things like great wealth,or the ability to visit beautiful places all around the world, at the drop of a hat.
But these things are material fantasies, our real wishes should be for a more spiritual, peaceful and loving world. Then we could really enjoy our fantasies.
Imagination finds a road to the realm of the Gods, and there man can glimpse that which is to be after the soul's liberation from the world of substance (Kahlil Gibran)

Saturday 30th April
After spending the day decorating I found this little piece by Charles Kingsley
Thank God-every morning when you get up-that you have something to do which must be done, whether you like it or not.Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will breed in you a hundred virtues which the idle will never know.
I wonder if an aching back is a virtue.

Friday 29th April
The most important things to do in this world are to get something to eat, something to drink and someone to love.(Brendan Behan)
I hope you have a wealth of all these things and good health to go with it.
I have posted the poem for May.
If you would like to find out more about my books and how to obtain them, please contact me on philtodd.oldroan@hotmail.com

Thursday 28th April
Old age is not an illness, it is a timeless ascent. As power diminishes, we grow toward the light.(May Sarton)
I think it is only when you grow older that you really understand that the soul is timeless. For my soul feels as young as ever, while my body ploughs on towards even more wrinkles.
One should never count the years-one should count one's interests.I have kept young trying never to lose my childhood sense of wonderment.I am glad I still have a vivid curiosity about the world I live in.(Helen Keller)

Tuesday 26th April
Do not be afraid to take a big step if one is required. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps
(David Lloyd George)
You never know in life just what you can achieve, until you are tested with a problem you thought was beyond your capabilities to solve.
So when you are called upon just make that big leap of faith.

Monday 25th April
What is lifes most expensive commodity.
Time because none us know how much we have got.
I found this written on a post it note placed inside a book I have not read for sometime.
Whatever I was thinking about at the time I wrote it is long since forgotten, but the statement is still true I think.
So treasure your time and make sure you make time for yourself.
Why not click on my You Tube page and view the Flower Duet video.

Sunday 24th April
Then said the rich man, speak to us of giving. And he answered:
You give little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
For what are your possessions but things you keep and guard for fear you may need them tomorrow?(Kahlil Gibran)
We all shackle ourselves to our possessions, the only truly free soul is the one that takes only what it needs for the present moment and lets the future look after itself.
May your day be filled with Love and Light..

Saturday 23rd April
"Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated"(Confucius)
Science seems to make all things hard for the layman to understand.
It is a good job we don't have to understand things in order for them to work, otherwise we would never be able to breathe let alone talk.
Sometimes it just best to enjoy these gifts and give thanks for them, rather than trying to figure out how they work.

Friday 22nd April
No matter where you go-there you are(Confucius)
It is amazing how many people think that by running away from their problems they will somehow lessen them or remove them.
The hard part is realising that problems and how we overcome them, help us to grow whether we make the right choices or not.
All the choices that you make in life should be your choices.
Not all rocket scientist have common sense(Phil T Todd)

Wednesday 20th April
I do not want a friend who smiles when I smile, who weeps when I weep:
for my shadow in a pool can do better than that.(Confucius)
We hope that our friends will be true friends and not be frightened to tell us when we leave the path of love and light.
I hope you have a friend that you trust enough to listen to.

Tuesday 19th April
A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.(Irish Proverb)
It is curious how when we laugh about our problems or sleep on them they always seem smaller, I guess the Irish knew a thing or to about problems and how to get over them.
There is a lot of talk at the moment about mindfullness meditation and its benefits.
I try to do this type of meditation and it does work, but sometimes it is hard to keep my mind on just one thing.
Have look on my You Tube channel for some peaceful and thoughtful music.

Monday 18th April
A great many worries can be diminished by realising the unimportance of the matter which causing anxiety(Bertrand Russell)
We all at times allow worries to take over our lives. these worries when viewed at a later date always seem so much smaller.
Pass your worries today to the Angels and watch them float into nothing.

Sunday 17th April
It's amazing how quickly Sunday goes, no sooner had I started tiding the garden and cleaning the flags then the day is over.
Time it moves without our knowledge it does not ask for our permission and sometimes it seems to go faster especially when we are busy or enjoying ourselves and I was both of these today, even if I feel a little weary now
May the Angels bless your week with sunshine.

Saturday 16th April
The greatest wealth is health (Vigil)
No matter what you have if you don't have your health you cannot really enjoy it.
So say a little prayer for yourself and ask for a healthy day and here is a little humour to go with it.
If I'd known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself (Leon Eldred)

Friday 15th April
I think the final word on change for this week must come from me.
Where ever I go things these days the things that I once thought solid seem to have disappeared and at times that can make me feel like a rudderless ship.
But I find that by asking for help to understand these changes, I can at least come to terms with them.
I don't have to like all the changes that go on around me, but I do have to realise that they don't happen to spite me. They are just evolution and I am only witnessing them.
So if you are going through changes you would rather do without, say a little pray to whoever or whatever you believe in and ask for an understanding of events.
For the saying whenever one door closes three more will open is true, just stop looking at the one that has closed, for behind it is only history...

Wednesday 13th April
I love the man that can smile in trouble that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection.Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.(Thomas Paine)
What better person to meet than someone who ignores their own misfortune and cares only to help others they truly are Earth Angels.

Sunday 10th April
I have just spent the weekend pottering around my garden, the weather has been unusually warm for the beginning of April,so it was hard for me to come in and switch on my computer.
This week sees me having a special Birthday on Tuesday i will be 60, where does the time go, so this week i will be in a reflective mood.

Friday 8th April
This week I have looked at how we think about change, because whether we like it or not, change is what happens, sometimes slowly and sometimes very quickly. It is how we adjust to change that makes the difference between whether we are happy or sad.
The one thing we have to remember is we cannot go backwards no matter how much we may want to at times.
Here is a thought that I may have shared with you before, but it is worth repeating.
From the tears of an angel to the joy of its smile, that bit in the middle is life for a while.(Phil T Todd)
Why not take a minute and look back at this weeks blogs.

Life is its own journey, presupposes its own change and movement, and one tries to arrest them at one's peril(Laurens Van de Post)
Whenever man tries to effect change he usually puts the wrong thing in the wrong place with chaos being the result.
Nature has her own plans and does quite nicely without man's interference.

Wednesday 6th April
Every possession and every happiness is but lent by chance for an uncertain time, and may therefore be demanded back the next hour(Arthur Schopenhauer)
We all like to think that we own things in life, but really they are only borrowed.
Change always comes bearing gifts(Price Pritchett).
The trick is to see the gifts within the change and not trying to hold on to something that has gone.
After all

Tuesday 5th April
Continuing the theme of change.
We all resist change because usually it means moving out of our comfort zone, but change is something that can not be stopped it is the very fabric of life. Here are some thoughts about change.

The only human institution which rejects change is the cemetery(Harold Wilson)

It is always the simple things that change our lives. And these things never happen when you are looking for them to happen.Life reveals answers at the pace life wishes to do so.You feel like running, but life is on a stroll. This is how God does things.(Donald Miller)
It is true that life no matter how we may try to control it, will do exactly what it is meant to do for better or worse. And usually there is a lesson to be learnt.

Sunday 3rd April
Someone passed me a piece of paper on Friday and this was written on it
Attitude is everything
Be kinder than necessary
for everyone you meet is fighting some sort of battle
Live simply, love generously.
Care deeply, speak kindly and pray continually.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain.
It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right and pray for the ones that don't
